Vocational Nursing Program

The Vocational Nursing (VN) Program at Blake Austin College prepares students with the essential training and skills required for entry-level positions in healthcare. Our approximately 12-month program offers both day or evening classes that provide comprehensive instruction in basic nursing care for individuals who are ill, injured, convalescing, or disabled.

Key highlights of our program include:

Comprehensive Curriculum: Our program consists of 1620 hours of theory, skills, and clinical training, covering patient-centered nursing concepts applicable across various clinical settings.

CPR Certification: Students will receive training and certification in CPR through the American Heart Association CPR course, ensuring they are prepared to respond effectively in emergencies.

Preparation for Licensure: The program prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), essential for becoming licensed vocational nurses.

Simulated Patient-Care Environment: At Blake Austin College, students benefit from practical, hands-on instruction in a simulated patient-care environment. Our labs are equipped with hospital-type beds, simulation manikins (infant, child, and adult), medical charts, vital signs equipment, and more to provide realistic training experiences.

Access to Technology: Students have access to computer systems software commonly used in nursing and medical administration. Microsoft Office software, internet access, and printers are readily available for research and assignments.
